QUICK INTRO FOR FIRST TIME VISITORS

Welcome to our website and to fly fishing the rivers and streams of the Goulburn Valley. Located less than two hours drive from the Melbourne CBD and 90 minutes from the eastern suburbs, we are situated on the Goulburn and Rubicon Rivers in the town of Thornton; a 10 minute drive from both Alexandra and Eildon.

Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing Centre (GVFFC) was established in 1994 as a small, two man operation running out of a tiny shopfront with a shoe box for a cash register. From these humble beginnings it has grown to be one of the premier guiding operations in Australia with the best teaching facility bar none. Namely a magnificent buidling made of earth, stone and wood and built on the banks of the Goulburn River with private lakes and accessible to numerous rivers in the immediate area.

These days our business can be loosely characterised into the following areas:

Accommodation: self-contained cottage accommodation on private lakes with access to the Goulburn River
Instruction: for fly fishers of all levels beginner to advanced.
Guiding: fishing either on the bank or from our drift boats with a guide
Guided destination trips: New Zealand , Swampy Plains, Mitta Mitta and Tumut.
Hosted overseas trips: Montana, British Columbia, Los Roques and other destinations.
Retail sales: bricks and mortar store and online sales of fly fishing gear.

We are open for business 7 days a week all year round. We teach, instruct and guide people of all ages and experience levels with beginners a GVFFC specialty. All gear is provided and we cater to everyone from individuals to groups of up to 50.

NEW ZEALAND FLY FISHING TRIPS

We are now taking bookings for our next summer's trips to New Zealand. These trips run for a week, include all guiding, food, accommodation and licences. A guide client ratio of 1:2 guarantees personal attention. Bring a friend, family member or a group. Individuals are more than welcome as we can organise someone to fish with.

Four people per week maximum and a strictly limited number of weeks.
