South Island: 7 Day Fly Fishing Adventures

7 Day Trips to the South Island in Jan - Feb - Mar 2007. Taking bookings now.

These are the best value for money fly fishing trips available. Seven days fully guided by the Goulburn Valley Fly Fishing Centre team. The price includes home cooked meals (NEW), accommodation, fishing licences, transportation and guided fly fishing. We can also help you to organise your flights if necessary.

The Itinerary

These trips are scheduled for January, February and March 2007. Leaving Australia on a Saturday morning you arrive NZ mid-afternoon in Dunedin where you will be met at the airport by the guides. It's then a comfortable two hour drive to the 'base of operations' and six full days of fly fishing. Six and a bit days if you include the the evening rise that first night!

Accommodation is comfortable and right on the river. Contained in a quiet farm cottage with shared sleeping quarters, we have access to nearly twenty waters in the immediate area. You can even walk out the back door and fish to 2-4lb browns!

The Fishing

The fishing is simply world class. The last lot of trips we did resulted in fish up to 7-8 pound with plenty of 3-4lb'ers the average. Most of the rivers we will be fishing will contain predominantly brown trout and excellent evening hatches. Evening rises will be pretty reliable with many fish slurping duns on most nights.

During the day most fish found will be swinging to and fro in the current taking every nymph drifting downstream. Although an accurate nymph representation will take many fish, a well presented dry will do just as well.

Aside from the typical big braided south island rivers, the opportunity to fish intimate streams with solid browns and sparkling alpine lakes full of fighting fit rainbows will be available. The options are many and we make the most of them.

The Package

Seven days starting at Dunedin on a Saturday afternoon and ending the following Saturday. Includes transport, accommodation, meals, fishing licence's, guiding etc. Price available on request.
