The Oreti is one of those magical places that your fly fishing journey will eventually take you. Whilst not overly beautiful to the casual observer, it has a charm uniquely its own, one that draws you back time and time again.
Often overly fished due to the chance of catching a real trophy fish, most leave with little success, having seen dozens of large fish, perhaps hooking a few and landing fewer still. Then there are the special days. Days of blue sky and no haze or cloud that mean the fish stick out like sore thumbs from about 11am onwards.
On this day we found a number of fish and raised them to cicada patterns. While not big fish for the Oreti, it was a great day that will live long in the memory. Thanks for sharing it with me Robbie.......
