Rod's Hopper  by Rod Booker

HOOK SIZE #12 Mustad 80050br

THREAD  Yellow  6/0

DUBBING Tiewell Midge dubbing. March Brown.

LEGS Golden Pheasant Tips

HACKLE  Dyed Yellow Grizzle

Step 1 Step 1

Tie in the thread at point "A" then wind it around the bend of the hook, as per diagram. Apply the dubbing to the thread: ensure that the dubbing is twisted tightest , closest to the hook to enable the correct shaping of the body.

Step 2 Step 2

Wind on the dubbing to form the body, starting off nice and slim, then getting gradually fatter. Wind the body up to point "B". Now take a small bunch of Golden Pheasant Tips and tie them in on one side of the body; repeat for other side, they must extend just beyond the hook bend.

Step 3 Step 3

Before attaching the hackles, apply a small drop of head cement at the point where the legs have been tied in. Now take two hackles and tie them in Dry Fly style, i.e. dull side facing you. Now wind each one on separately, about six turns each, tie them off, form a small head, whip finish and apply head cement.
